1. OVERVIEW
1Continuum helps individuals and families organize, understand, maintain, and share important information about their financial lives, estates, entities, taxes, insurance, documents, relationships, and continuity planning.
That work can involve highly sensitive information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and disclose it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights available to you.
Our core principles are:
- Your data is yours.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your Customer Data to train generalized AI models for other customers or third parties.
- You control who you authorize to access your household data, subject to disclosures needed to operate and protect the Service and comply with law.
- We support data portability and account deletion.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
2.1 Account and identity information
We may collect your name, email address, account and household identifiers, authentication and sign-in metadata, plan information, and related account information.
2.2 Content you provide
We collect files, documents, images, records, notes, prompts, instructions, and other content that you choose to submit to 1Continuum ("Customer Data").
Customer Data may include information about accounts, assets, liabilities, entities, trusts, partnerships, corporations, insurance, taxes, income, expenses, property, beneficiaries, family members, advisors, estate planning, legal documents, health-related matters, and other household information.
Because of the nature of the Service, Customer Data may include information that applicable law treats as sensitive personal information or sensitive data.
2.3 Information about other people
You may choose to provide information about family members, beneficiaries, trustees, executors, agents, advisors, owners, employees, or other people.
You are responsible for having the right, authority, consent, or other lawful basis to provide that information.
2.4 Government identifiers and Social Security numbers
We do not require a Social Security number for ordinary account creation or ordinary use of 1Continuum.
However, documents you intentionally upload — such as tax returns, W-2s, 1099s, identity documents, estate documents, employment records, or financial records — may contain Social Security numbers, taxpayer identification numbers, passport numbers, driver's-license numbers, or similar identifiers. When such information appears in content you provide, our systems and service providers may process it as necessary to provide the Service, protect security, comply with law, or perform a feature you request.
We encourage you not to provide sensitive identifiers when they are unnecessary for your intended use.
2.5 Financial-connection information
If you choose to connect a financial account, our financial-data provider may provide us with information such as institution name, account type, balances, transactions, holdings, limited account identifiers, and other information you authorize.
We do not receive your bank password from Plaid where Plaid's connection flow is used. The information available to us depends on the institution, provider, connection type, and permissions you grant.
2.6 Usage, device, and security information
We may collect IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, authentication events, application logs, audit events, error information, feature usage, and other technical data reasonably necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
2.7 Payment information
If you purchase a paid plan, our payment provider processes your payment information. Continuum does not need to store full payment-card numbers when payment processing is handled by our payment provider.
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use information to:
- provide, operate, maintain, and personalize 1Continuum;
- upload, store, organize, parse, extract, classify, reconcile, search, summarize, and display Customer Data;
- provide AI-assisted features requested by you;
- connect and synchronize supported third-party services;
- create reports, exports, views, and other outputs you request;
- authenticate users and administer household permissions;
- secure the Service, detect abuse, investigate incidents, and prevent fraud;
- provide support and communicate with you;
- process payments and administer subscriptions;
- comply with law, legal process, and regulatory obligations;
- enforce our Terms and protect users, Continuum, and third parties;
- analyze reliability, performance, and product usage; and
- improve the Service in ways consistent with this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use the contents of Customer Data to serve third-party behavioral advertising.
4. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
1Continuum uses AI and automated processing to help extract, classify, summarize, reconcile, search, and answer questions about information you provide.
We do not use Customer Data or Sensitive Information to train generalized AI or machine-learning models for the benefit of other customers or third parties.
When third-party AI providers process Customer Data on our behalf, we use providers and service terms intended to prevent those providers from using Customer Data to train their generalized models.
AI output may be inaccurate or incomplete. The Terms of Service explain important limitations on reliance on AI output.
5. HOW WE DISCLOSE INFORMATION
We disclose personal information only as described in this Policy, including:
5.1 At your direction
We disclose information to household members, co-owners, family members, advisors, firms, or other people when you authorize access or direct us to share information through the Service.
5.2 Service providers
We use vendors and subprocessors to operate 1Continuum. Depending on current product configuration, these may include providers for cloud hosting, databases, authentication, file storage, AI processing, financial connectivity, email delivery, monitoring, analytics, and payment processing.
These providers may process information on our behalf subject to contractual or service restrictions and applicable law.
5.3 Legal, safety, and security purposes
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process; protect the rights, safety, or security of users, Continuum, or others; investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents; or enforce our agreements.
5.4 Business transactions
If Continuum is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be disclosed to participants and advisors as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate confidentiality protections.
5.5 De-identified and aggregate information
We may use or disclose information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it does not reasonably identify an individual, as permitted by law.
6. CURRENT SERVICE PROVIDERS
At the time this Policy is published, 1Continuum uses providers including:
- Supabase — database, file storage, and authentication infrastructure
- Vercel — application hosting and delivery
- Anthropic — AI-assisted document and information processing
- Plaid — optional financial-account connectivity
- Resend — email delivery
When paid plans become available, a payment processor will process payment information; this Policy will name it before that processing begins.
Providers and functions change as the Service evolves. We may replace or add service providers where reasonably necessary to operate, secure, or improve the Service.
7. SHARING WITH ADVISORS AND FIRMS
If 1Continuum allows you to connect an advisor, professional, family office, or firm, the access granted depends on the permissions and product features you choose.
You are responsible for deciding whom to authorize and for reviewing and revoking access when appropriate.
An authorized recipient may be able to download or retain information outside 1Continuum. We cannot control information after an authorized recipient has lawfully copied it outside the Service.
8. SECURITY
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information and Customer Data and appropriate to the nature of the Service and information processed.
Safeguards may include encryption in transit, access controls, least-privilege practices, authentication controls, logging, tenant or household isolation controls, backups, and security monitoring, as applicable to our systems.
No electronic system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We cannot promise that unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, corruption, or other security incidents will never occur.
If we discover a security incident for which notice is required by law, we will provide notice as required by applicable law.
9. PASSWORDS AND AUTHENTICATION SECRETS
1Continuum is not a password manager or cryptocurrency wallet unless we expressly label a specific feature as designed for that purpose.
Do not use ordinary 1Continuum fields or document storage as your primary repository for passwords, PINs, security answers, one-time authentication codes, recovery codes, cryptocurrency private keys, or seed phrases.
10. DATA RETENTION
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain security, comply with legal and regulatory obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and fulfill the purposes described in this Policy.
Retention periods vary by category of information and operational need.
Customer Data in active accounts is generally retained while the applicable account or household remains active unless you delete it sooner.
11. EXPORT, ACCOUNT CLOSURE, AND DELETION
1Continuum is designed around data portability.
You may use available product tools to export Customer Data and close your account.
When you delete information or close your account, information may be removed from active systems while residual copies remain temporarily in encrypted or otherwise protected backups, disaster-recovery systems, security logs, fraud-prevention records, legal holds, billing records, or other records where retention is required or permitted by law.
Residual backup copies are deleted or overwritten according to ordinary retention cycles and are not ordinarily restored to active use except for disaster recovery, security, legal compliance, or similar legitimate purposes.
We may retain information that has been de-identified or aggregated so it can no longer reasonably be linked to an identifiable individual, as permitted by law.
12. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Depending on where you live and whether an applicable privacy law covers our processing, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction, deletion, portability, or information about our processing, and to appeal certain decisions.
You may also have rights relating to consent for certain processing of sensitive data, targeted advertising, sale of personal information, or profiling.
Because we do not sell personal information and do not use Customer Data for third-party behavioral advertising, some statutory opt-out rights may not apply to our current practices.
To submit a privacy request, email hello@1continuum.com with the subject line "Privacy Request."
We may need to verify your identity and authority before fulfilling a request. If you request information relating to another household member or person, we may require evidence that you are authorized to act for that person.
We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
13. APPEALS
If applicable law gives you a right to appeal our decision concerning a privacy request, you may appeal by emailing hello@1continuum.com with the subject line "Privacy Appeal" and describing the decision you want reviewed.
We will respond as required by applicable law.
14. CHILDREN
1Continuum is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly permit a person under 18 to create an independent 1Continuum account.
The Service may contain information about children or other minors when an authorized adult lawfully includes that information as part of family, estate, insurance, tax, or other household records.
15. INTERNATIONAL USERS
Continuum is based in the United States, and information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.
If applicable law requires a particular cross-border transfer mechanism or other protection, Continuum will use legally recognized mechanisms as required.
16. COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies reasonably necessary for authentication, security, session management, preferences, and operation of the Service.
If we later introduce non-essential analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking technologies, we will update this Policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.
17. DO NOT SELL OR SHARE FOR BEHAVIORAL ADVERTISING
Continuum does not sell personal information.
Continuum does not share Customer Data for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising based on the contents of your private household data.
If our practices change, we will update this Policy and provide legally required choices before applying the new practice where required.
18. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service, law, or our practices change.
If a change materially affects how we use Customer Data or materially reduces your privacy protections, we will provide reasonable notice when required by law or otherwise reasonably practicable.
The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
